 Why are photographers so damn expensive?

In the digital age when the newest iPhone or Samsung are taking better pictures than most cameras could until very recently, that seems like a reasonable question that warrants a bit of an explanation. First and foremost, camera equipment is expensive. Professional, full-frame DSLR and mirrorless camera bodies can cost thousands of dollars and are often virtually obsolete within a few years of purchase. The lenses necessary to capture the magical photos that you deserve are equally as, and in some cases, even more pricey (consider one of my favorites). This doesn’t include speedlights, diffusers, tripods, filters, editing software, printers, hard drives, or any of the other equally as important little things that it takes to run a photography business.

In addition to technical expertise, e.g. knowing the ins and out of camera and lighting equipment, you’re entrusting me with making you look as amazing as you possibly can. Whether you’re searching for that perfect new job and need an updated headshot, or you’re about to graduate and want to capture the memory forever, you deserve to dazzle the world. In order to make that happen, it takes nearly twice as long behind a computer screen editing photos in Lightroom as it does to actually shoot them.
